Popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was on May 29 shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mansa district of Punjab. Three people were injured in the firing incident. He was 28.
The incident happened just a day after Punjab Police withdrew security of 424 people, including that Moosewala.
The singer was attacked when he was travelling along with his two friends in his jeep. Later, Mansa civil surgeon Dr Ranjeet Rai told reporters that Sidhu Moosewala was brought dead to a civil hospital. He said that two others who sustained bullet injuries have been referred to another hospital.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mansa) Gobinder Singh told PTI that several bullets hit Moosewala, who was in his jeep at village Jawahar Ke when he was attacked.
Moosewala had joined the Congress party last year ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls. He had contested the elections from Mansa and was defeated by the AAP candidate Vijay Singla.
