Madhya Pradesh has taken over the hosting duties of the games this year. The multi-sport event was kickstarted with an aim to provide young athletes a platform to exhibit their talents and it has been instrumental in unearthing young talents. This year more than 6,000 participants throughout the country will be in action in 27 different sporting events.
Players under the age of 22 can participate in the Khelo India Youth Games. Out of the 27 sporting dicsciplines, for the first time, sports like kayaking, canoeing, canoe slalom and fencing will be part of the Khelo India Youth Games. Beginning from 31st January, the current edition of the tournament will be held for 13 days till 11th February 2023.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, unveiled the games’ mascot, the magnificent flame, and the hymn.
This year, the Khelo India Youth Games will have 27 games. For the first time, water sports have been added to the sports event. Canoeing, Kayaking, Rowing, and Canoe Slalom are some new games that have been included this time.
