Among them, Jallikattu competitions will be held on 15th in Avaniyapuram, 16th in Balamet and 17th in Alankanallur this year. District Collector Anish Shekhar issued the communiqué which listed the rules and regulations laid out by the State government for the Jallikattu events and also for controlling the spread of Covid-19 during the conduct of the traditional sports.

In Madurai district, Avaniapuram Jallikattu will be held on January 15 while Palamedu Jallikattu on January 16 and Alankanallur Jallikattu on January 17,As per the guidelines issued by the Madurai district collector, the bull tamers will have to upload their photograph on the official website- madurai.nic.in- of the district administration along with all two-dose corona vaccination certificates. Besides, a negative report of Covid should be provided two days before the Jallikattu event.

Similarly, the bulls participating in the events will also have to be registered on madurai.nic.in. A bull can participate in only one competition among the three events. Two persons can accompany the bull, the owner and helper. They should also provide a double dose Covid vaccination certificate and a negative Covid certificate, according to the guidelines.

The spectators who are coming to watch the Jallikattu events must also be vaccinated and provide a certificate of no Covid.The tokens will be distributed to qualified participants after scrutinising the submitted documents and certificates, said the Collector.
