SBI staff and pensioners will get an additional one per cent interest rate applicable to them. This comes in the wake of rising fixed deposit rates announced by several banks in recent months. The SBI announced it on Twitter and tweeted, “Introducing ‘Amrit Kalash Deposit’ for domestic and NRI customers with attractive interest rates, 400 days tenure and much more. T&C Apply.”

The name of this new FD scheme of SBI is Amrit Kalash. The bank had implemented this scheme on February 15 itself and the last date to invest in it is March 31, 2023. In this fixed deposit scheme, investors can get a good return by investing money for 400 or more days. To activate this FD scheme, customers will have to visit the bank branch. Apart from this, if you want, you can also open it through SBI’s app Yono.

In any fixed deposit scheme, when a person receives more than 40 thousand interest on maturity, then he also has to pay TDS of 5 percent. If you do not want to deduct TDS, then for this you will have to submit Form 15G or Form 15H in the bank. In this, you give complete details of your account information and income to the government. After submitting this form, the Income Tax Department decides whether the person concerned will be exempted from TDS.

SBI hikes FD interest rates

The State Bank of India (SBI) has increased interest rates on some fixed deposits (FDs) by up to 25 basis points after a two-month period (bps). The increase in FD interest rates, according to the SBI website, ranges from 5 to 25 basis points.

After the hike, the bank will now offer interest rates between 3% to 7% for regular citizens and 3.5% to 7.5% for senior citizens.
