The Yuva Sangam registration portal was launched in New Delhi. The Yuva Sangam is an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build close ties between the youth of the Northeast Region and the rest of India under the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Under the initiative, over 20 thousand youth will travel across the country and gain a unique opportunity for cross-cultural learning.Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam will focus on conducting exposure tours of youth between the 8 North Eastern States and other States. It will provide an immersive experience of various facets of life, development landmarks, recent achievements and youth connect in the host state.

During their visits, the youth will have a multi-dimensional exposure under five broad areas – Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Prodyogik (Technology) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect).The Yuva Sangam aims to focus on conducting exposure tours of the youth comprising of students and off-campus youngsters from North Eastern States to other states and vice versa.Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan has launched Yuva Sangam portal with the aim to build empathy between youth of the North Eastern States and other States.

As part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, the Yuva Sangam portal is aimed at building empathy among youths from the northeastern and other states.The portal was launched in collaboration with various ministries and departments such as culture, tourism, railways, information and broadcasting, youth affairs and sports, home affairs, Department for Development of North-East Region (DoNER) and IRCTC. Around 1,000 young people are expected to participate in the Yuva Sangam pilot programme.

According to an official statement, the initiative has been conceptusalied under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ in collaboration with various other ministries and departments such as Culture, Tourism, Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, among others. Around 1,000 youth will participate in the pilot of Yuva Sangam, the statement added.

A unique initiative, Yuva Sangam, will further strengthen the spirit of India in Amrit Kaal,” he added. The Union education minister invited the youth to come forward, register themselves and also provide suggestions for Yuva Sangam. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said the initiative of ‘Yuva Sangam’ will inculcate common spirit of understanding among thousands of youth participating in the programme, which will resonate throughout the country and contribute immensely towards building a truly ‘Shreshtha Bharat’ (great India).

Eligibility and General Guidelines for delegates

  • ll Indian citizens of the age group 18-30 years – students, NSS/ NYKS volunteers, employed/ self-employed persons, etc. are eligible to apply under this programme. [ As a pilot NE States & 14 other Sates are being covered].
  •  The Nodal Higher Education Institution will make the final section based on the above criteria for the students residing in the State where the HEIs is located
  •  UG, PG students & other youth will be considered for selection.
  •  The selection will be made keeping in view various parameters like equal representation of male and female, educational background, adequate representation from rural / remote areas, inclusivity, representation from all section of the society etc.
  •  The youth selected to participate in the Samagam, i.e. the delegates will be contacted by the Nodal Officers of Higher Education Institutions for all further correspondence.
  •  The applicant should be medically fit and able to travel.
  •  During the journey, the delegates will need to maintain decorum at all times.
  •  Delegates should follow the covid appropriate behaviour during entire visit.
  •  Delegates travelling in a group are expected to adhere strictly to the guidelines given by the coordinator of the group
  •  Delegates must respect the cultural and ethnic sensitivities during the visit.
