Amid ongoing confusion over the linking of Aadhaar with the TNEB account, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has granted an extension of two days. Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has granted an extension to those whose last date for paying bills falls between November 24 and November 30. The decision was as several consumers complained about issues while linking their Aadhaar card with their electricity service numbers.

It is to be noted that TANGEDCO has made it mandatory for everyone to link their Aadhaar card with their TNEB account in order to continue to receive their subsidy.In order to ensure that everyone follows this, TANGEDCO offices are now refusing to collect current consumption (CC) charges from consumers who have not linked Aadhar with TNEB.

Following a government order, Tangedco began linking consumer numbers with Aadhaar in November 2022. With the last date to connect the TNEB connection with Aadhaar being January 31, 2023, customers can check online if their consumer number is linked.

The deadline for public in Tamil Nadu to link their electricity connections with Aadhaar ends on February 15. The deadline should be adhered to as this will be the last extension, said Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).

The first deadline given for the same was December 31 which was then extended by a month.

Step 1: Consumers need to visit the official website of TNEB i.e. nsc.tnebltd.gov.in/adharupload.

Step 2: Here, you will have to provide details of your Service Connection Number.

Step 3: In the next step, you will have to verify your mobile number. In order to do so, you will have to generate OTP. Enter OTP and verify your account. 

Step 3: Provide details of the occupant.

Step 4: Now provide the Aadhaar card number that is to be linked with the TANGEDCO account. 

Step 5: Enter your name as it is on the Aadhaar. 

Step 6: Upload your Aadhaar ID
