Odisha Balaram Yojana 2023- Apply Online: Odisha Government has started a new Balaram Yojana to provide agriculture loan. This scheme has been started to give Rs 1,040 crore to the landless farmers. Odisha Balaram Yojana 2023

The decision to start Odishabalaramyojana was taken on 2 July 2020 in a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary AK Tripathi. All the landless farmers who were earlier unable to get agricultural loans will now get loans through Joint Liability Groups.

This loan amount will act as social collateral for the landless farmers. The new Balaram Yojana has been designed in collaboration with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). In addition, rural agricultural workers will implement the agricultural credit program at the field level.

Odisha government has directed the officials to activate the banking sector through the State Level Bankers Committee. SLBC will now provide loan assistance to those landless farmers and sharecroppers who do not get loans due to lack of resources. 2 state-run organizations will be the nodal agencies at the state and district level for the implementation of Balaram Yojana in Odisha.

  • INSTITUTE ON MANAGEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION(IMAE) will be the nodal agency at the state level for implementation of Balaramyojana.
  • Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) will be the nodal agency at the district level for implementation of Balaramyojana.
  • Agriculture loan will be made available to the landless farmers in the form of normal crop loan.
  • The State Government has also directed the officers to create a suitable institutional mechanism for coordination and monitoring at various levels.

Encourage Farmer Companions in Odisha

Odisha State Govt. It has also been decided to encourage farmer companions and rural agricultural workers through ATMA which will help in the following things:

  • Formation of JLG
  • Linking them to banks
  • Raising loan disbursements
  • Facility for repayment of loans

Each lender will finance at least 10 JLGs in a year. Each JLG will have 5 members and a group will get Rs 1.6 lakh. The target is to cover around 7 lakh landless farmers through 1.40 lakh JLGs within two years. There are about 7,000 branches of various banks and Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) in rural and semi-urban areas.

Odisha Balaram Yojana is the first of its kind initiative to provide agriculture loan in the country. Through this program, field level agricultural workers will get a loan of about Rs 1,040 crore.
