kalaignar memorial online booking:The Tamil Nadu Government, on March 4, announced that the Kalaignar Ulagam, an exhibition showcasing the art, literature and political life of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi at his memorial on the Marina front would be opened for the public from March 6. The bookings could be done online.

A State government press release said a web portalhad been created and people could download free tickets from the website. A person could download five tickets through his mobile number. No permission is required for visiting Kalaignar memorial.

Kalaignar Ulagam, the underground digital museum, adjacent to the Kalaignar memorial on the Marina was thrown open to the public on Wednesday. The number of visitors was restricted to 100 per batch on the first day and it would be gradually increased in the next few days.The museum, which showcased the film, literature and political life of former Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi through various digital and interactive displays, was recently inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.

The unveiling of Kalaignar Ulagam, an underground digital museum adjacent to the Kalaignar memorial on the Marina, marks a significant tribute to the life and legacy of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. This immersive experience offers visitors a journey through Karunanidhi’s childhood, his contributions to filmdom and politics, all the way to his demise.

With interactive displays, 3D holographic shows, and a mini-theatre screening documentaries, the museum provides a comprehensive exploration of Karunanidhi’s multifaceted persona. Entry to the museum is free, but visitors must register online in advance due to limited capacity, ensuring a meaningful and controlled experience for each batch of up to 200 persons.

The memorial for Kalaignar, as Karunanidhi was fondly referred to, has several attractive features, including an underground state-of-the-art digital museum. The museum christened ‘Kalaignar Ulagam’ showcases the life and achievements of the Dravidian icon. Touchscreen displays, a library and selfie points are some of the other highlights of the memorial built at a cost of Rs 39 crore.

The museum will feature rare photographs of government policies implemented by Karunanidhi, the government order (GO) issued by him in 1970 mandating the recital of Thamizh Thai Vazhthu (invocation to Mother Tamil) at the beginning of government functions, and also features the GO issued by CM Stalin on December 17, 2021, declaring the invocation as the state anthem.

At the ‘Sarithira Nayaganin Sathanai Payanam’ area, a static train is kept surrounded by 7D screens. Visitors will like they are travelling on a train from Tiruvarur to Chennai and as they cross each station like Thanjavur, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem etc, the photographs of various life incidents of Kalaignar related to each of these stations appear on screen.
