Tamil Nadu Local Body Elections 2022 | TN Urban local Body Election Date 2022- Ward List, Nomination Date, Result Date: Tamil Nadu has a total of 649 urban local bodies, which include 21 corporations, 138 municipalities and 490 municipalities. Of these, 12,838 are wards. Urban local elections to elect public representatives for these wards were announced on 26 January. Under this, a by-election is to be held on 19. It has been announced that voting will be held on that day from 7 am to 5 pm and for corona victims from 5 pm to 6 pm.

In this context, a public holiday has been declared on 19th before the polling in the constituencies. The Tamil Nadu government has declared a public holiday for a total of 648 urban local bodies, including 21 corporations, 138 municipalities and 489 municipalities, excluding Kadampur municipality.

According to Thoothukudi District Election Officer and District Election Observer, 33 nominations have been received in Thoothukudi District, Kadampur Primary Municipality and the election for all the 12 Ward Member posts has been canceled due to non-compliance by Returning Officer and Assistant Returning. Officials of Kadampur Primary Municipality, Thoothukudi District have said that only the area is not suitable for public holidays.

Tamil Nadu Local Body Election Date 2022
The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has announced that the polling for urban local bodies will be held on19 February 2022 and the counting of votes will take place on 22 February 2022. Addressing a press conference yesterday, State Election Commissioner V Palanikumar said voting would take place. For 21 corporations, 138 municipalities, 490 nagar panchayats and 649 other urban local bodies in a single phase. The model code of conduct came into force yesterday with the announcement of the election dates.
The filing of nominations for the single phase polling will begin from January 28 and will continue till February 4. The SEC will scrutinize the nomination papers on February 5 and February 7 will be the last day for withdrawal of candidatures.
The SEC announcement of the election schedule came after the Madras High Court on Tuesday allowed the conduct of elections to urban local bodies, saying it would supervise the elections. Holding that the postponement of the election could not be ordered, the court had dismissed a batch of PILs on the issue.

Palanikumar said the counting of votes would take place on 22 February 2022 and the results would be declared on the same day. Indirect elections for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor and president and vice president of municipalities will be held on 4 March 2022. The newly elected members will assume office on 2 March 2022.
The SEC said that arrangements have been made to ensure that coronavirus-infected persons also exercise their franchise close to the day of the election.
While the ruling DMK will seek votes in the name of its policies and the performance of the Stalin government so far, the main opposition AIADMK would like to regain the confidence of the people through local administration elections.

Tamil Nadu Local Body Election 2022 Nomination process for the election began on January 28, and candidates can file their nominations till February 4. Scrutiny of forms will take place on February 5, and the last date for withdrawal is February 7. There is going to be an election. On February 19, elections will be held in a single phase from 7 am to 6 pm.

Voters with COVID-19 or who experience any symptoms can exercise their franchise in the last one hour of polling. The counting of votes will take place on February 22 and the result is expected to be declared on the same day. The voting process will be completed by 24 February and on 2 March the newly elected ward members/council will take oath.
Tamil Nadu Indirect Elections 2022
The SEC will hold indirect elections on March 4 for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in corporations and president and vice president in municipalities and town panchayats. 31,029 polling stations have been set up across the state. This includes 5,794 in 15 areas of the city in Chennai alone. The polling in all sensitive areas will be monitored by CCTV.
