Handlooms Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday relaunched the Nethanna ku Cheyutha savings scheme for handloom weavers and ancillary workers in the State.A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting with Handloom department officials here on Monday. The Minister said handloom weavers and ancillary workers in the State can enroll for the savings scheme.
Ministers Etela Rajender, G Jagdish Reddy and Jogu Ramanna participated in the event at Pochampally, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District. KTR announced that 50percent subsidy on yarn and imprints will be given to the handloom weavers. He said that the government will bring a revolutionary change for the welfare of the weavers.As per the scheme the beneficiaries ought to contribute a share of 8percent towards the savings scheme, while the share of the government will be 16 percent up to a maximum of Rs 2,400 per month.

As part of the scheme, the State government contributes 16 per cent of the declared income against 8 per cent contributed by the handloom weaver. Similarly, the government contributes eight per cent to the ancillary workers contribution of eight per cent. The scheme will ensure financial assurance for nearly 25,000 handloom weavers and 10,000 powerloom workers, the Minister said.
In undivided Andhra Pradesh the benefits of the scheme were confined to handloom weavers but after State formation, the benefits have been extended to powerloom workers too, he said. In the past, the scheme benefitted only weavers registered with societies but currently the scheme is open to handloom weavers, dyers, designers, weavers, winders and other ancillary workers.
Nethannaku Cheyutha scheme launch date
This is savings scheme initially launched in the year 2017 for weavers in the state. Now this scheme is being extended to handloom weavers, dyers, designers, winders and other ancillary workers. Under this scheme, state government will contribute a share of 16% toward this savings scheme and worker will contribute a share of 8% . This scheme was super beneficial to the workers in difficult times and thus seeing the success of the scheme the scheme is being extended for this year as well thereby ensuring the welfare of the beneficiaries.
This scheme has been very helpful to weavers during the hardships arising due to Corona pandemic. Considering their hardships, last year the Government facilitated to draw the accumulated funds and reap benefits before the expiry of lock-in period, the Minister said adding this move helped the weavers get benefitted to the tune of Rs.109 crore.Since the scheme was beneficial to the weavers and as per the requests made by them, the State Government has responded positively and decided to extend the scheme

who are above 18 years of age as per Aadhar and attached to Geo tagged looms and earns at least 50% of his/her annual income from Handloom weaving / Pre-weaving and preparatory work
